Articolo che merita in interezza (thanks zini), ma in sostanza:
Oh, of course – Apple haven’tbeen gathering their own map data at all – all they’ve done is render Open Street Map data with their own stylesheet, miscategorised the status of some ways, conveniently forget to include any copyright attribution, and pass it off as their own!(…)
I’m sure the OSM community would be delighted to know that Apple have chosen to use their map over Google’s – it’s a great validation of the accuracy and completeness of the Open Street Map data. Heck – the OSM data is there to be used. But nicking it and passing it off as your own with no attribution? Apple sinks ever lower in my estimation. (*)
Quelli di OpenStreetMap reagiscono con grande aplomb
The OSM data that Apple is using is rather old (start of April 2010) so don’t expect to see your latest and greatest updates on there. It’s also missing the necessary credit to OpenStreetMap’s contributors; we look forward to working with Apple to get that on there. (*)
Risposta che probabilmente aprirà scenari più costruttivi di quella che avrei auspicato io (un node amenity=horsehead sulla sede di cupertino)
